Accountability Versus Responsibility with Bill Heinrich

I'm with Bill Heinrich. If you're just getting to know Bill, Bill is one of my mentors. He has helped me in my reinvention, my transformation.

It's funny because I came to Bill for business and I've gotten business and more and it's unusual. It's an interesting conversation that you're about to hear. It's one I have with Bill and you think you're coming in with business and tactical stuff and he turns you around and focuses you on what is important in life.

In this particular conversation from Bill, you're going to hear things about love and fear and how to leverage these to get more wealth, to become better you and to create more success in your life.

We also talked about this idea of accountability versus responsibility. Whether you run a team, whether you're starting a business or you're a family man or woman, this idea of accountability versus responsibility is something that has transformed my world and has allowed me to step into my greatness and create things at a much faster and a much higher level. I want to make sure that you get access to that. Pay extra close attention to that in this episode. We also talked about survival and how most of us are in survival and how we can go from that to thriving.

Dustin
We're with a good friend and a personal mentor of mine. I'm excited about this conversation because it's going to be different. It’s eye-opening for a lot of you but that's only if you'll pay attention and slowdown unlike I did when I first met you,Bill. It took me two or three conversations to finally get what we're about to get into and you have to be ready for that. My only hope is that people are ready for the message. I encourage people to go back and read this because this is going to be great and you're going to get multiple a-has. Bill, thanks for being here.
Bill
It's my pleasure.
Dustin
You can talk, you can share and you have great wisdom. I want to start us off with one of my favorite things that I've learned from you. As you say, you don't teach anything, you just make people aware. You give them clarity, which is a good thing when you're talking to coaches out there. Many people have coaches. I want to start with this first, accountability versus responsibility. You're big on this difference. Explain that to us.
Bill
I want to backtrack a little bit. In all the work, personal transformation, 45 years of business experience and 25 years of personal transformation experience, I needed to find out why I was so miserable and successful. That's how I began my transformation and since then, I'm looking at everything but now I look at it energetically. Accountability is a word that is used all the time and it's fascinating because what I've found is most people live in survival. They don't understand the difference between surviving and thriving. It's an energetic difference. That's what makes it different. When we talk about accountability or responsibility, accountability is a word that people use all the time because they are always accountable. They think that that's a good thing but in my world, it isn't. The reason it isn't is that accountability puts you in a victim status. When you're in a victim status, you no longer have control of your life. You are giving your life to someone else. Unfortunately, most people think that's just the way life is, but I'm here to tell you it isn't. You know that to be true because we've worked together.
Accountability is an obligation to perform some act. The problem with it is when you're accountable to someone else, then you're shooting at a moving target because they get to determine what level of accountability you need to hold. They'll let you know when it's good for them. Responsibility is I'm choosing to do something and I'm going to put my all into that. I'm fully responsible for what I'm doing whether I'm at work, I do something around the house for the family or friend,I'm making a conscious choice and I am responsible. One good example of that is we had discussed me coming down to San Diego doing some teaching and then do the podcast. I said, "Great," and I remained responsible for that. I never became accountable to you. I'm not here to help you make me look good. I'm here to share, to help, to give, to serve and that's it. I'm fully responsible with that. I guarantee you that you have imposed accountability that has been placed on you by others that creates an obligation in your life and you didn't invite it in. It was just put there.
Dustin
Give us an example.
Bill
With family, you're going to be there for Thanksgiving. There are thousands of different ways. The question is this. When you're looking at it, are you choosing to do it and are you joyful, happy and free doing it? You typically are not going to find that with accountability but when you're responsible, it's like, "I'd like to get that done for you and I'll do it. I'll take care of it by this point in time." I teach clarity, I teach awareness, I teach how to live in your life with purpose. The first thing I have to teach people is to understand the English language, to use words that support who they truly are. We're accustomed to batting around words like on a tennis court.
Dustin
Are you talking about the sayings like,“I'm broke as a joke?”
Bill
Yes, you could have. We create everything in our lives. I'm responsible for everything in my life and the words and thoughts create.
Dustin
We're all about wealth creation, upping in your game and transforming yourself. Let's say some of our audience are not in a wealthy situation. I can say,“I am wealthy,” and the wealth is going to show up in my lap and all I need to do is tell myself in a different language and I'm going to become wealthy. Is it as easy as that?
Bill
No.
Dustin
What do we have to do?
Bill
You have to understand that if you're struggling right now, then you probably don't understand the difference between accountability and responsibility. You may be afraid of responsibility. Taking on responsibility and being responsible brings greater rewards. The more responsible you are, the greater the wealth you can build. I'm talking about being responsible from your heart and as a human being, not as much being able to manage an office or something like that. If there's somebody struggling, no language isn't going to do it. What's funny is there's over $85 billion a year spent on lottery tickets. That's a fact. It's probably higher and it's just a tax on people who are poor at math because of the winners, over 70% of the people who win the lottery are bankrupt within three years.
Dustin
Why do you think that is?
Bill
There is no responsibility. They don't have a foundation that can handle wealth and money. Wealth brings with it the responsibilities that one needs to take care of.
Dustin
I want to put you in an interesting scenario. Your new client is someone that just won one of these lotteries who definitely doesn't have the foundation. They're going to inherit all this money. What do you coach them to do to either hang onto the money but probably a better thing is to multiply that money? How do you train them to be responsible and what would you say to be responsible?
Bill
I'm a high-level business coach. I have clients all around the world. I would never talk to them about money just like I don't talk to my clients about business.
Dustin
What do you talk to them about?
Bill
I talk to them the inner game, what's going on in their life, how they're making choices that aren't supporting who they are, and how they're living with a survival mentality instead of a thriving. We take a look at what's going on in their day-to-day life. You can see the world is a mirror. You can look at anybody and see exactly what's going on in their life because whatever is going on outside of them is going on inside of them. It's very telling and for the most part, it's pretty easy because a majority of the people live in survival. That's all they know: gather, work, looking for more money, need a bigger house, want a better vacation, all of the things that accountability provides.
When we talk about responsibility and you're talking about people who are really responsible, they never talk about wealth. What they talk about are meaningful things in their life, sharing who they truly are and connecting. When you look now, the new wealth is going to get formed with transparency and responsibility because of the internet and everyone having so much information now. The hoodwinking that's going on for many decades in the US and around the world is over because the truth is coming out. You're going to see new wealth coming in the area where people want transparency. Women are truly becoming equal now, which is fantastic. What's been happening isn't going on anymore. The tide has shifted, it’s the #MeToo Movement era.
Dustin
I want to get into survival versus the thriving. I want to challenge your thought. I've come across information that says, “From the beginning of time,” essentially. There maybe a tad bit of a sensationalism here but the wealth distribution in America, let's say society, has been the same. We've gone through an industrial revolution. We've gone through the internet. We've gone through whatever and yet the haves, the have it and the have-nots don't have it and the numbers have not changed all that much. When you say new wealth, what are you talking about?
Bill
Two or three people control everything.
Dustin
We could subscribe to that. If you look at the makeup society, 1% whole and 99% of them, that hasn't changed drastically since the beginning of time is the assertion, but you brought us this new information about new wealth. What are you saying is going to change because now we have access to new information?
Bill
You have to understand that the world is in a constant state of change. The universe is in a constant state of change. This moment, everything's changing, expanding, growing. This is the way it functions. There's more attention being paid to that part of life than to the work side of life, the eking out living side of life. The Millennials now are coming in with more transparency. They demand authenticity. If they find out that you've done something that is inauthentic, you will lose not just some of their business overnight, you will lose it all. There's a totally different change happening. Wealth is moving in the direction of connection of purpose, of meaning and of fulfillment.
I grew up with my dad and mom coming through depression. You're talking about surviving versus thriving, which is a very common mindset with everyone because we live on Earth and we need to survive. We need food, water and shelter to survive, but we've got all of our needs mixed up. We have our emphasis on our needs and our emphasis is not on our heart, our energy and sharing our love with others. When it gets to the end of the day, regardless of how much wealth you have, what matters most is the moment where you have that authentic connection with the one that you love, with your family, with your co-workers and with your friends. Money doesn't play into that. That's what real wealth is. It is the abundance and understanding. Money is only energy.
The universe operates everything. We live in a universe. The Earth is part of the universe. The universe only operates on energy. Nikola Tesla said, "If you want to understand the universe, you must speak in terms of vibration, frequency and energy." That's all it's about. That's what's going to fuel the new wealth, but I don't think the new wealth is going to look the same as the old wealth. The old wealth was staunch, the pillars in front of the house and all that. The new wealth to me, I see more of a global wealth because we can connect with anybody. I was telling you about how my Facebook has been blowing up all these new people, unlike people, friends. I'm looking at their pictures on their page and there are dirty floors in their homes. This is a powerful world. Can you imagine that a woman in the middle of the jungle in the Philippines can connect with a business coach and an author in Las Vegas? This is what's going to change everything and it's about the energy and the connection. I almost feel embarrassed. I can't even imagine what they're thinking when they're connecting with me.
Dustin
If everything's a vibration, how can we change our vibration? How can we increase because that's a good thing to do, up your vibration? How does one do that to attract wealth? I'm conscious to know better relationships in life, a better job or a better stock. I don't want to focus on money but how does one change their vibration in any area of life?
Bill
Being WealthFit speaks to me about responsibility. It's about creating a foundation, creating awareness and understanding that you don't need to win the lottery to be wealthy. I'm incredibly wealthy. Most people who know me are somewhat jealous of the life that I live, but they’re placing their perception on it. They don't understand my life. They're seeing it through their eyes. That has to do with money and I travel but none of that is true. All I do is go help people. I just go give. What's happening is moving to responsibility, thriving using the universe, looking at energy. If everything in the universe is a vibration, you simply have to look at what feelings you have and what energy you're putting into any situation in front of you. If you're angry, you're putting anger. Anger is not part of love. There's only fear in love. If there's anger, you're afraid maybe of losing something. When you talk about changing, the thing you have to understand is money's energy. Everything is energy. Money is a reflection of what you're manifesting in your life. It's a direct reflection of your energy.
Dustin
I want to go deep on this one. You're saying that you attract the energy that you put out the same vibration. If I'm walking in a park and a guy comes up with a gun, are you saying I attracted the guy with a gun and put it on my face?
Bill
Yes.
Dustin
Why would I want that? How am I attracting that?
Bill
Energetically, there's something going on inside of you that attracted it. Some people are probably going, "That's crazy." Let me give me an example. In 2000, I was coming home from a meeting and I was in San Diego at the time. I was coming home from a meeting with this woman I was in a relationship with and we got rear-ended by a drunk driver. We were a block from the house and I stopped at a stop sign and he nailed us. He drove us across up on the lawn and into a tree. The police came and the car needed to get towed. We were close enough we could walk home but thank God we weren't injured. We got home, we looked at each other and we were like, "How did we attract that?"
Dustin
You both attracted that, not just one or the other? It had to be both?
Bill
Sure, we were both together. This is a responsibility. If I wanted accountability, I would have talked about the SOB that was drunk and hit us. You point the fingers outside but when you're pointing the fingers outside, what you're doing is you're giving away all of your power. The moment you think it's outside of you, you've lost your power. If I'm responsible for everything in my life, that means that I can make choices to improve my life at the moment instantly. It has more to do with wanting to own power, not force.
Dustin
What's the difference?
Bill
The difference in David Hawkins’ book, Power vs. Force, he explains it where he measures energetic resonances and he can give you energetic resonances of different cities, different people, different states. It's fascinating, the man is brilliant. What he shows is that the lower the energetic resonance, the more force comes into play, the higher the energetic resonance, more power comes into play. Force is a physical act, "I'm going to force my way in the room. I'm going to force them to give us the documents." It's an angry physical act because power is energy. Power is allowing to use your power and let things manifest at whatever comes from the love that you're sharing and your power. When you understand life and your life purpose, all I teach them is energy. It's all about love. Don't get me like I'm a '60s flower child. I'm a high-level business person. I've got 25 years’ experience in this and 45 years of business experience. I have seen again and again miracles happen.
I'm a business coach but me and my clients never talk business. When you understand the inner game, you can create as much wealth as you want but you must understand when you're coming from your heart, wealth has a different meaning. If you're working with highly-evolved, energetic people, these are people who understand energy, how to bring it into the physical. I'm trying to separate myself or do anything, but you get people like that who are consciously involved and make a gratitude list, top ten things, wealth won't be on it. These are the foundation for wealth,“I'm grateful. I'm loving. I'm compassionate. I'm empathetic.” All the things that attract wealth and you attract it to you. If you're going to go raise money for a business, I've written many business plans to raise money, what happened was I learned about money magnets.
A money magnet is a kickass board of directors for a new startup, all people who have each got twenty years of experience in the industry bringing in a new president from the company, maybe your competitor. These are money magnets, identifying and talking about risk. "Our risk is this. Our competition is this and this," all the bad stuff is in there. Those are money magnets. People want the responsibility. It always goes back to responsibility. Money comes running at you then. They don't have any trouble raising money and it's the same. If you want to attract wealth, how can you make a change in your life that will make you appear more attractive to wealth? What's on your foundation? Do you have a foundation to support wealth? People who win the lottery don't. They go to bed. I'm not picking anybody out. They go to bed one night maybe in a little single-family house, maybe in a mobile home, maybe in an apartment and they wake up the next day and found out they won $300 million. When they take their cash settlement, they're getting $140 million cash. People have committed suicide because they've won the lottery. Many people have said it is the worst day of their life and they thought it was going to solve everything. Money doesn't solve anything. Money takes responsibility and it's all an inner game.
Dustin
I want to go back to the story because you left us hanging with you and your friend in the car with the drunk driver that hit you. You were safe, but the premise was that you both had attracted that. What did you discover about yourself in that conversation that you had manifested that or created that?
Bill
I never manifested anything. We both took ownership. When you're working with the source, which I call the universe, God, Buddha, whatever it may be, you have to put it out there. The answer to that probably came and I didn't understand or I didn't see it, but we did something very interesting with that. This happened on a Thursday night. The next morning we got up, we talked about it, we looked at each other and we said, "We're never going to speak about this again," and we didn't. We had to go get chiropractic care. Our car was towed.
Dustin
Would one say that you've buried that deep in the recesses of your mind and you're avoiding it?
Bill
No, I wanted to clear the space so I could find out why I had attracted it. What people love to do is go back and relive the emotions again, "Did you hear what he did to me?" You're reliving it, you're actually creating more energy from it, more challenges and concerns in your life. It's a matter of choosing to be powerful, choosing to bring the elements onto your foundation, not the foundation of your home but your inner foundation like integrity, peacefulness, joy, calm. That's how you attract wealth.
Dustin
Bill, you're big on this conversation around love and fear. You often say that a lot of us are driven by fear and some would say that's a good thing. I was afraid of public speaking and then I went out and became a public speaker. Fear drove me and I said I was going to conquer that fear. You have a different approach to it. You're about love and so when fear enters your life, you should love that fear and choose a different path than letting fear drive you or consume you. Can you break that down a little bit for us?
Bill
There are only two things in the world, love and fear. You're either in love physically. You're feeling the love from your heart at the moment. You're afraid or you don't have a clue, which is true for a lot of people, but those are the only two basic emotions that we have. Love has to come from inside you. Fear can only come from outside you. You can't generate fear from the inside unless you're inside your head. The neck down and the head up doesn't count in my world. The head is an evil necessity because that's where we think our mind is and our mind is a tool. There's a quote by Albert Einstein,“It's good but it's how we become servants to our minds.” When we're living in fear, when we aren't aware, then the fear is running our lives and our life is out of control. There are situations that we avoid because we don't know how to handle them. I go through this with clients all the time. There is nothing anyone can bring to me that we can't cut through like a hot knife through soft butter in Phoenix in July because that's how powerful we are.
The other thing that's fascinating is the people that I work with, the moment they see these pieces and they understand what they are, they take off. They're like, "There's a blueprint." They don't need guidance. They love responsibility. They love it with clarity. If you have responsibility and you don't have clarity, you'll end up in a position of accountability. You have to because you can't run blind. You've got to be coming from somewhere, so you're either coming from the inside or you're on the outside of yourself satisfying somebody out there or satisfying yourself on the inside.
Dustin
One of the things that you said that was a little unclear was this head and heart thing. What popped in my head is you're a successful business guy, you're a successful coach and this idea of head and heart. I'm thinking if I'm assembling my team, let's say I put a financial planner on my team, do I want the guy leading with his heart? Yes, because I want him to do the right thing, but I also want him to be leading with his head because I want him to bring me the magical stock and make the right decisions with my portfolio. How do you balance head and heart in that conversation?
Bill
I don't believe there is a balance between the head and the heart, not that I would know of at this moment. Your heart will always tell you the truth. It tells you how you feel. You can ask a question and it will give you an answer. Your head likes to figure things out. That's what your head is for. It's like a Swiss army knife. Your heart pumps love to everybody. It speaks with the truth. The head is manipulative. I say my mind is like a bad neighborhood. I don't like to go in there alone because we can have these wild, crazy thoughts. We've all had them and ended up there, but when you live from a place of energy and feelings and you acknowledge that you're scared and you're listening to your heart, you'll probably back up and sit down for a moment and go, "I'm scared. What am I afraid of? What's going on?" and be honest with yourself. Your head will say, "You wimp, what are you afraid of?" If you're afraid of speaking, get up on the stage and speak. What happens is what you're doing with your head is you're literally abandoning your heart.
The head will go up on the stage and speak but it won't bring the heart with it. When the heart goes up on the stage to speak, everyone's welcome. They're all part of the show, but the moment the ego is involved, the ego is running the game. When people are looking at wealth, investments, you have to look from the inside out. I was talking to a client and he said something that reminded me a bit of what his past was like prior to us starting to work together. I was asked a question regarding some debt and I said, "Take the money and pay it off." He said, "I knew you're going to say that." The reason I said it was because I know how important it would be to him energetically and he didn't realize that.
Another client I worked with was selling a house. You talk about a nightmare and it was unbelievable. It was a house on a private road with seven houses on the road. He lives away from there. They had it rented. They found somebody who wanted to buy it. They needed to get rid of it. They were just getting out it and it was going to change their whole financial situation. The neighbors tried to greenmail him because he had to have a document signed because it's a private road that had a maintenance agreement for the road. One of the neighbors said, "You damaged the culvert, you fix the culvert and we'll sign it." It was everybody fighting, arguing and the guy that accused him of it would never speak to him.
I sat peacefully and we looked at what the options were here. We took the most peaceful path. I said, "If it was me and you are closing with this bank, you're going to get that loan and I'd go write that check because it's that important to you energetically to put this all behind you." He was like, "Let me be with it overnight." I said, "Let's talk in the next couple of days." We talked and he said, "Something better came." I said, "What's that?" He said, "We're going to switch banks." I said, "Why is that better?" He said, "They don't need a road maintenance agreement." There are many options but when you're conniving, when you're rationalizing, when you're justifying and you're trying to wiggle through with your head because the simple answer is with your heart if you'll just sit and be still.
Dustin
What do you say to a Wall Street banker or to somebody in prison? They’re like, "I can't live with my heart, I will get pummeled in Wall Street. They'll run me over and I'll lose my job because they're greedy and there are sharks in prison." In prison, it’s the same,"I'll get killed." What do you say in that situation? It's not a situation I am but that's what people are thinking out there.
Bill
What I would tell them on Wall Street is if you're doing what you were doing before 2008, keep doing it. We'll have another 2008. You guys only want greed. You're just after money. Greed is running the country. It's corporate greed, investors want the stocks up. It's a very sad situation. I don't want to get on my soapbox about this because I am not into this thing but the whole Monsanto piece and GMOs and 80% of our corn and soy seeds go to farms marked as pesticides, we've got some problems in this country that need to be resolved. That's because people use their heads and want to make more money. The list of countries that have GMO is embarrassing when you look at how powerful the United States is. These are little third-world countries that know enough.
We have Harvard, Yale and all these other places here and it's sad but that's what people do. Sometimes if it's in the name of wealth, they're building their wealth, they're protecting their wealth, "I've got to have this return. I've got to have that." They step across the line and are more concerned about the return on investment than other people's well-being. This is pretty common. When you look at what happened in 2008, I lost a tremendous amount of money in that and I have a lot of friends that did. I didn't care about myself because I'm a scrapper. I can get back and I'm not worried about that. These friends of mine that I saw go through it are people who have been working in the same job for twenty years. It ruined their world because everybody wanted to make more money on Wall Street with those mortgages.
Dustin
Let's say I subscribed to you, Bill. I like the energy you’re putting out and I want to lead more with my heart. How do I lead more with my heart tactically? Are there things that I can do? Is there an exercise? Can I ask myself a question?
Bill
The first thing is understanding where you're coming from. Are you making an intellectual decision? You've been doing it your whole life. Go for it. It will feel a little strange sitting quietly and asking your heart, “Is this the right direction or is that the right direction?” You can ask your heart any question you want. It will give you the answer.
Dustin
How will I know?
Bill
You'll feel it but your heart is like, "It didn't feel right to me." In the long run, I've done both. I've lived a crazy life. It's the quality of the connection, the relationship that I have with my wealth, the relationship that I have with my clients, the relationship that I have with my family, and the relationship that I have with mankind that money can't buy. It's connected, it's loving, it's empathetic and that's what's important. When you're building wealth, you have to have an internal foundation that will support that wealth. What the wealth looks like doesn't matter, but what choices you make from the inside will determine how much you appreciate it, have gratitude for it and whether or not you'll be able to maintain it and keep it. Is it authentic or is it something that you've manipulated your way into a lot of different things? Money is energy.
Dustin
I want to go back a little bit to surviving versus thriving. You said that we come out of the womb essentially in survival and we're trained to stay in survival. It's not necessarily our fault, it's just that that's what has been passed down.
Bill
It's not our fault but we made a choice to come. We made the choice to be in our family of origin so that we could come to Earth and learn the lessons that we need to learn to heal our souls and Earth is all about survival.
Dustin
Give me some examples.
Bill
The five basic physiological needs: food, water, shelter excretion, and sex. The next level of needs is safety. When people talk about safety, they immediately think of physical safety. If you were working with me, I'm like, "I want to hear about your emotional, financial. I'm going to go take safety in every area of your life." A lot of people don't feel safe. They may feel, "My doors are locked at night, but I am lying in bed terrified." There are many different ways to look at safety. The next level is love and belonging. The next level above that is esteem, our need for acknowledgment and recognition. Then above that are our cognitive needs, our needs to learn and understand more about life itself than the aesthetic needs; the need for life to be beautiful. Then the next level is transcendence and self-actualization.
This is from Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. He only had five levels to begin with and then he went to seven. My belief is we come from pure energy and we get reduced into physical form. Think for a second that you're just energy, you're like, "What is energy like?" Imagine that your energy is like electricity. How fast does electricity travel? Imagine you're that and now you come into physical form and it's like, "Now I live in quicksand. I’m trying to move and everything's slow.” When we're born and we come in and we're in this family, this family tells us, "This is all there is. You've got one life, use it right. Here are the rules." You've got to fit in and then they're all survival.
When you start looking at the universe and energy, it just thrives. It's about expansion. It's about love. It's about growth. It's about organic growth. It's about helping others. It's about being of service. This is what we're here for. It's a big difference. Survival is about gathering more. Do I have enough? Are we going to be able to make it? We better get more. We need a bigger house. We need a bigger car. Go get more. This is happening. Go grab some of that and we'll store it away. It's all to take care of our physical needs.
Dustin
What has occurred for me is I almost get the sense that you're a monk. Meaning you often hear of the monk that gives up their possessions and they go sit in the mountain and they meditate. They become self-actualized in what I believe in my head. However, I've got a family. I've got kids. Here's the head coming. How does one thrive in man's physical world? Let's say I'm not going to go sit on the mountain and become self-actualized. Now that I know this, I feel guilty that I might not go and become that. How do I balance that?
Bill
The reason people want to go on the mountain and become self-actualized is that they think that that's the only way that they can escape from what we call life. The way to not escape is to learn how the universe operates. There are seven basic laws that run the universe. When you learn those and you play those into your physical life, those come first then come physical laws; law and order and what you're supposed to do and behave as a physical person. You come first with the universal laws and bring that energy through your life and it will change your whole life and the way you look at it.
The universe operates on seven basic laws. Many people, if you ask, "How many universal laws?" "I've heard 24 to 88," but there are only seven. The three that are fixed are the Law of Vibration, the Law of Correspondence and the Law of Mentalism. The Law of Vibration says, "Everything in the universe is a vibration." That's the beginning and end of that story. Everything is a vibration. The Law of Correspondence says, "Everything is in alignment with your vibration." If you have a vibration of anger, the body, mind, spirit and emotions are all going to be angry. As above so below. The Law of Alignment is, "Whatever your energy is, it is where your energy field is in all areas." With vibration, everything comes from nothing. Everything comes from thought. You can create anything you want.
You think of something you want to create. I'm a kid in Tennessee and I'm like, "I want to be a United States Senator. I'm committed to that. That's my intention." As he builds his foundation in life to achieve that, he's bringing things into his life, into his internal foundation. With each step, he's gaining more clarity of what it looks like to be a senator and all of his energy is flowing towards that. You can create anything you want. The next four are transcendable and it's the Law of Rhythm what flows in flows out. The Law of Cause and Effect, every effect has a cause and every cause has an effect. Most people call that the Law of Attraction. The Law of Gender says everything is masculine and feminine; everything plants, minerals, animals, people. Everything has masculine and feminine energy. The Law of Polarity is there's duality in everything; everything there's hot, there's cold. Everything has duality. The purpose of living a balanced life is to pull your duality towards the center. I like to say balance is the line that I cross when I go from one extreme to the other. You're never going to be static in balance. It's impossible.
Dustin
Is that the goal? What I'm hearing here is stoicism, I shouldn't be overly happy but I shouldn't be overly sad. I should be in the middle, balanced, stoic.
Bill
You're not stoic but you're not having the wild swings, yet at the same time, you have your authentic self. I know people who can do this and become stoic but what they're doing is shutting down and they're using mind over matter, "I can't go sit in that chair for ten hours and not move. I don't care what you say. I'll show you." Everything I do in my life is for the enhancement and expansion of my life to bring me closer to my soul while at the same time being of service to others. The more that I'm of service to others, the more wealth I'm going to have. People love it when you're of service. People are like, "I don't want to be a service to somebody." If you've got a job, if you go to work, you're of service. I don't care if you're the CEO, you are here to be of service to others. When you're giving from your heart lovingly without any resentment and you're in service, people flock to you. You're irresistible.
Dustin
What's the best investment you've ever made?
Bill
It’s learning to love myself.
Dustin
How long has that taken you?
Bill
I'm still working on it. I'm not sure I'll ever be there but it's a fun project because it doesn't hurt anybody. I know I can generate more love for myself by learning more about myself, by being more compassionate with myself, by being more empathetic with myself, by just loving myself. As I do that and my love grows, I've got more to share. When you're sharing the love and you see it authentically received, I've never seen any wealth that I felt could replace that. Everyone I've ever worked with, everyone has told me that this work is priceless, which goes well beyond well. I had a client get on the phone with me and say, "I had to go to a business meeting in Orlando. I asked my son if he wanted to go with me." I said, "Did he go?" He said, "He went." He said, "Bill, I want to thank you. It's the first time I've ever authentically connected with my son. He got to see what I do. We just had time to be together and I've never done that before because I was too busy out trying to make money and create wealth." That experience supersedes any wealth I can create. We just had that special moment. That's what it's about.
The best things in life aren't things. People will never remember what you said. They're always going to remember how you made them feel. You're always going to be remembered by how you made them feel and that's what we're here for. Wealth is about responsibility, gratitude, beauty and joy. I can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt that everything I've done is all about energy. Where's your energy at? When you start working and using your energy, it's so much fun. You see stuff happen and you're like, "That is so funny." People will stop me in the airports. They feel my energy. What they're feeling is that piece of themselves that's missing. They come to it that quick and it's like it's missing in them and I feel that must be it.
Dustin
What you've shared is incredibly valuable. I've experienced this myself where you have outside stimuli. Something happens in life and for whatever reason, you're emotional about it in a negative way, in a way that doesn't serve you. What can I be conscious of? What can I do at that moment when I feel the hate?
Bill
Let it rip. Remember that whether you're doing it directly in front of them or not with them, you're creating karma. When you create karma, then you get to eat at the table of consequences. At the table of consequences, the main course is alwayscrow. We're only human and we're going to be human until we die. We go back to pure energy and go wherever we came from. I know we're on a ball flying through space and everybody is far too serious for what's going on. We're just human. You're going to make mistakes. You're going to get angry and it's going to happen. Acknowledge it. You can always go back and apologize but who owe the apology to is not going to be the other person, it's going to be to yourself. It's going to be to how undignified you felt. Why would you want to be spoken to that way? Maybe you do. Maybe that's what you want in your life.
Dustin
I feel this emotion, I probably feel I'm at the point where I don't want to let it rip in front of them, but I may go and excuse myself from the room and yell and scream and journal or whatever. That would be responsible. When I do that, it's a good thing. Karmically, you mention whether it's in person or not, chalk one up on the negative side of the board there, we're going to pay for that. We still do it because it's better to do that and let it out than bottle it and be stoic essentially about it.
Bill
It's better to stop trying to be perfect, whatever that means and be real. It doesn't give you the right to throttle somebody. When you're angry, what you want to do is in the trunk of your car, carry a big baby rattle. Take that out. Stop and bang it on the guardrail next to the road because what you're saying is, "I didn't get my way. They're going to take my football away. I'm going to lose my doll," or whatever. It's a fear of loss. It has to do with the physical. You're going to lose something in the physical. You're trying to protect something in the physical or somebody said something that you took as an insult. Maybe they said something offensive. The reason you're upset isn't that they said it, you're upset because you think the same thing about yourself. They hit the finish nail with a ball-peen hammer. It's going on in you.
Somebody could come up to me and say, "I think you're a liar. Everything you say is BS." I'd say, "Thanks. Tell me more about that." I want to learn about their perception. They're seeing me. They are judging this based on what's going on inside of them. It has nothing to do with what I'm doing. It's their opinion of it. In the past, with very low self-esteem I would have gone on the attack, but I wouldn't do that anymore. It's because I can learn something. Then I'd walk away and pray for them. I can't change them. I don't care what you think about me. I know what I feel about myself now. I'm pretty good. I'm not perfect but I used to go through my actions took them to specifically get approval from other people and have them say, "That was great. You're a great guy." That's the way I got my love.
Dustin
For folks who loved the conversation, resonated, vibrated at the same level and want to go deeper, you've got a book. I want you to talk about the book and also, I want folks to know where they can find more Bill.
Bill
The book is The 7 Levels of Truth: The Answer to Life's Biggest Question! I've been in personal transformation and have completely, totally changed my life a number of times and I've learned some amazing things. Everything I've learned about these resources available to us, I found out this. One, you already have every one of them. Two, they're 100% free regardless of race, creed, color, geographic, location, whether they have money, it doesn't matter. Everyone in the world can have this. They just need to understand the pieces of the puzzle. I wrote the book The 7 Levels of Truth. The work I've done coaching through proof of concept where people have radically changed people's lives or they've changed their lives drastically, quickly, once they saw these pieces. I put it all in this book, The 7 Levels of Truth. I wanted to make a difference in the world and this stuff works.
Here's how well it works. I'm the only business coach in the world that will let a client sit down and write their own guarantee of what they want to accomplish. Then I'll back that up with a 100% refundable guarantee. All of them write it and then we'll go get it done. That's how powerful this is. It's called The 7 Levels of Truth. Truth, I want to help people so I'm giving the book away for free. It's taken me four years to write this book and I'm giving it away for free. I'll just ask you to pay the shipping and handling on it. This is a limited offer. It's going to be available through the month of October because my birthday is on Halloween and I don't know how much longer after that. It will change your life. I'll go a step further, this is going to revolutionize the personal transformation industry because I've got proof with many clients.
Dustin
Thank you, Bill. I appreciate you sharing your wisdom as always and making a difference and transformation in the world. Thanks for being on the show.
Bill
